Genesis Adult Career Exploration

December 19, 2014

Genesis Development, an Iowa based non-profit organization providing opportunities, choices and support for people with disabilities, has announced the launching of a new program called Adult Career Exploration or ACE. The new program will give adults the opportunity to explore employment options in their community.

Genesis Development has had great success with the Experience Based Career Exploration (EBCE) program in high schools across central Iowa. Through the experience gained during the 7 years of EBCE courses, Genesis Development has shaped a curriculum and format for the ACE program that will give participants an opportunity to learn valuable workplace skills and gain real work experience in community-based, unpaid internships.

The Adult Career Exploration (ACE) program has already begun in both the Indianola and Boone locations, and is scheduled to begin at the beginning of January in Grinnell. New ACE program locations are projected to be added across Iowa within a year.

Each program is still seeking participants for ACE, as well as businesses to provide internships.

If your business would be willing to be an internship site, or if you would like more information about the program, please contact the Grinnell office at (641) 236-0245. Businesses may also contact Alex Bird, Business Development Manager at alex@genesisdevelopment.com and interested applicants may contact Laney Abarr, Employment Manager at laney@genesisdevelopment.com.
