Food Service Assistant
Description:
Prepares meats, vegetables, fruit , etc., for consumption in company cafeteria, or meeting rooms and serves customers by performing the following duties:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

and the approximate percentage of time for each, include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

30% Prepares deli sandwiches daily -- (ham and cheese, beef, tuna, chicken or ham salad, turkey, etc.).

30% Operates cash register for lunch.

*Balance cash drawer at end of shift.

15% Prepares desserts, pudding cups, etc. daily.

10% Assists with preparation for:

*Deli Bar.

*Salad Bar.

*Lunch Set-Up.

*Caterings.

10% Assists with breakdown and cleanup.

*Lunch Line.

*Salad Bar.

05% Assists with storage of food and nonfood products and designated storage areas.

Other duties as may be assigned by Food Services Supervisor.




QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) with experience in food and nutrition desirable.




LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one situations.




MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals desirable.




REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.




OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

Must possess working knowledge of commercial kitchen equipment including their proper use and their safety precautions desirable.

Ability to work in a harmonious manner with co-employees, supervisor and customers with tact and courtesy.

Ability to keep a regular work schedule and maintain regular, predictable attendance.

Ability to work with minimal supervision.

Ability to accept supervision.

Ability to follow instructions.

Ability to make decisions based on established guidelines.

Ability to write legibly.
